Nuggets of Wisdom

The Book Genesis 28th chapter

I found a Little nugget that I think is good for some of us when we feel that we have been too bad, and God is going to come after us.  This story is about Jacob, the son of Isaac, and the seed of Abraham.  His name means heel catcher.  He was the younger twin of Esau. Jacob did a bad thing to his father and his brother.  He deceived his blind father, and he tricked his brother.  When he became of age to receive his inheritance, he tricked his blind father into blessing him for his brother's birthright.  He was strewed in his dealings with his brother, and it caused his brother to be angry with him.
Jacob was haunted by his actions, until he grew to a point where he recognized the favor of God was with him.
I want to focus on a thought for someone that is scared to ask God for help, because you have been bad, and you don't think he will help you. You take the long way home, this is metaphorically speaking.
First, God loves you no matter what, but he hate the sin that we all do.  We are already blood purchased, and we have his promise that he knew us before he laid the foundations of the earth.
The key verses I would like to call to your attention are 16-22, where he recognized the presence of God after he had a dream. Verse 16.  He awaken, and said, "Surely the Lord is in this place".  Many of us do not want God to show up in our mess, and when he did, we scurried around until we got out of that place, because we did not want God to catch us.  That is a funny analogy when you think, since we know that the earth is the Lord's foot stool (lol).  When we do not know any better, we can't do any better. It may seem like stubbornness to some, when it is really the lack of knowledge to the unlearned. Jacob somehow knew the presence of the Lord. Can you explain that?  He wasn't wanting to live for the Lord at that time in his life, prior to the encounter.
My theory is that he had an encounter that change him immediately to a certain degree. In verse 17, it states, he was afraid, after the dream, and he said this is nothing but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. Can you explain that?  Does it remind you of your old self?  When you were so far out there, that you were ducking, sneaking and hiding.  We were running from the very spirit that was ready to help us.  In the next four verses 18-22. Jacob, became wise over night. He had an encounter with God. I am awe struck, because he learned something from his Father, Isaac who was a man of God, and a descendant of Abraham, who was Jacobs Grandfather. I liked what Jacob did out of respect for God, even though, he was not ready for the encounter ,yet, he woke up with great wisdom.  He was a crafty young man, he had  Swagger, flavor, and favor of God upon him, and It is something that any parent would be proud to see their young teen or young adult do in the presence of the Lord.  I'm going paraphrase the next five verses.  In a nut shell, Jacob rose early that morning and took the stones he made for his pillows and erected one.  He had the spiritual sense, to have olive oil upon him, and he took it out, and anointed the pillar or stone after he erected it (it had his DNA on it) and he gave the place a new name.  If he was a business prospect, he did a wonderful thing. He renamed the place Bethel, pronounced as (bayth-ale) spelled Beyth-El, and a  Hebrew word, but it was called Luz a Canaanite city.
This next step will blow you a way. He made a vow to God, and he reasoned, If God will keep me in this way that I go, give me bread to eat, and clothes to put on, so that I can make it right with my Father's house (gain forgiveness) then I shall let the Lord be my God.  He had an Epiphany, he said, "I am going to erect this stone as a pillar, and it shall be God's house; and all that God shall give me; I will surely give the tenth unto thee".  Brilliant analysis.  He figured out something that some of us have not.
Now some of us would have had a problem with a young man like this, some of you would have told him, "young man, you should not play with God like that, you should let the Elder's do things like that. You are not qualified to be doing those kind of things".  The young man had an Epiphany.  How you gonna tell him he did not have a Jacob's latter dream and experience.  He heard God make him a promise, and he acted on the promise like any one of us. I am so blessed by this, because it illustrates just how simple God want's us to be when it comes to revelation knowledge. The favor of God rested upon Jacob, after his encounter. God made a promise to Abraham, his Grandfather. I thought I would share this nugget with you.
Don't run from God. He sees, knows and hears everything, and beside that the earth is his foot stool, so how far can you go to hide from him (Isa. 66.1). lol
Be blessed and tell somebody you love them, today.
